We go to settlement today...hopefully. We got a call last night that it might not happen because the selling bank doesn't have all its paperwork done. If that happens I might seriously kill someone because we are supposed to be painting all weekend. So crossed fingers!

I'm on an angry rant today, so be warned. So here's the sitch...the company that manages our property for our landlord is pissed as hell we are moving. They were trying to make us stay until the end of June, but the 60 day notice from the first of the month actually isn't in the lease. The only time that applies is if you go month-to-month after the end of the lease term, which they refused to allow us to do. So really the only notification necessary is 10 days prior to move-out so they can inspect. We let them know yesterday that we are moving out when the lease ends at the end of June. They gave us all kinds of crap, but we ran the lease past our realtor (my uncle) and his associates and they all agreed that the management company (asshat from here on out) has no grounds to force us to stay longer. We compromised and agreed to stay and pay prorated rent through July 9, which would be 60 days from when we told them, even though we are under no obligation to do so. I thought that was pretty nice of us, but they are still being dicks.
The asshats came to the house and put up a sign and a lockbox, and never knocked on the door to let me know they were doing it. I didn't know about it until I walked out to get Joey and saw it in my yard and on my door. That REALLY made me angry. Anyone with the code could have come walking into the house and I wouldn't have known they could. We have told them repeatedly that we will need some notice before people come to look at the house because we have a small child here. I don't want someone walking in when I'm in the shower and he's alone in his crib. Know what I mean? Well they are being pissy about it and insisting that although most agents will call first, no notice is necessary. EXCUSE ME?!! Screw you! From now on, if I am home I am keeping the top latch done. No one is walking in my house without my permission.
Tonight we are going to dinner for our anniversary and the kids will be here with my SIL. I plan on telling her not to let anyone in the house tonight. Period. If they call, she should tell them not to come and if they show up, she is not letting them in. If they get belligerent, she can call us and/or the police. I don't want anyone in this house when my kids are home alone with a sitter. That's not safe. I would love to be nice about this and work with the asshats, but I will not jeopardize the safety of me and my children because they are being jerks about us leaving.

Vince called the listing agent today and found out that there are two other offers on the house. He tried to get a sense of where we stand with the listing agent, but she's been out of the country and apparently doesn't really know what is going on. We should have an answer this evening from the sellers and then if we are accepted, the bank will respond in 48 hours. There is another house one street over that is basically the same and the same price, but actually has a better kitchen that wouldn't need to be redone (but no sunroom and a teeny yard) that we want to look at. Vince is going to try to get me out there this afternoon to take a look. What I'd like to do is a have a signed contract on the other house ready to go so if we don't get the first one, we can submit the new one immediately. Damn! This process is nervewracking. Please pray to whatever higher power you believe in for me!

So here's the sitch...my Uncle Vince is putting together the contract today (the seller has agreed to pay closing, hooray!) and we are going to sign it and get it back to him with the earnest money deposit so he can submit it tomorrow morning. Here's the problem...the house has just gone into short sale. So now not only does the seller have to approve the offer, but the bank does too. Vince said he doesn't think it will be a problem, but the bank could potentially drag the process out for months to see if they get a better offer or if it is even worth selling at this price. The 2008 tax assessments are more than $200k above than the selling price of the house. We can't wait months. We need to let our landlord know by the end of next month whether or not we are going to renew the lease and we have to be out by the end of May. So we can't afford to wait more than a month for them to accept or reject our offer because if they reject we have to get into something else quickly. This whole process is giving me agita. I love this house. I keep picturing what I would do with different rooms. I really want it. I hate this whole waiting and bargaining crap.

This was a pretty productive weekend. Saturday was Joey's first Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. He did pretty well. He came in 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 1st in his heats and came in somewhere in the middle overall. His times were pretty consistent around 3.33. The fastest times were around 3.15 and the slowest were over 4 seconds. He was a disappointed but he didn't cry, which made me very proud. He really wanted to win something, but they gave everyone blue ribbons that said "I did my best" which seemed to pacify him. We also had dance class that night, which was great! We finally learned to do turns, and we nailed them. I can't wait to use what we've learned.
Sunday we went to Costco to stock up on necessities like meats, formula, etc. Who needs to go out for meals when you can eat your way around Costco. Sundays are insane. We had chicken, pizza, chocolate cake and on and on and on. We also went to look at two houses in Leesburg on the way out to a friends' Super Bowl party. We just did a drive-by to check out the neighborhoods before we committed to going out to see the insides later this week. The Super Bowl party was okay. Good food, but it was hard to really pay attention to the game with Joey complaining about being bored and/or not feeling well (he was fine) and Daniel wanting to alternately be held or get down.
Anyway, I've also started trying some combo baby foods. This weekend and today I made some Banana Blueberry and Apple Grape. We'll see how that goes over.
